Sold: Contessa 32 Legendary Cruiser-Racer, splendid lines, seaworthy with practical interior
General: The Contessa 32 is a legendary Cruiser-Racer that still wins races today. Well-built under Lloyds supervision and proven seaworthy, with excellent sailing characteristics and suitable for inland waterways or for example longer trips across the North Sea. The current owner has had the Contessa since 1986 and has sailed her to destinations such as England and Scandinavia. The sail quiver consists of a mainsail that is furled up on the boom, genoa I & II, a storm jib and a spinnaker. The headsails are hoisted on a forestay profile and trimmed from the cockpit with the self-tailing sheet winches. The steering is by tiller with extension, compass, log and depth sounder are placed at the cabin entrance. The high cockpit coaming and sprayhood provide good shelter. In 1996 a Volvo Penta 19 hp diesel engine was newly installed.
Interior: The interior is basic but practically furnished and cosy, with a comfortable seating corner, settee, various cupboard space and headroom of approx. 1.80 m. The seating corner can be converted into a double bed. To port is a galley, with gas stove, sink and cold running water. To starboard is a chart table, with equipment such as radar, GPS and VHF. The seat of the chart table connects to the quarter berth. The forepeak can be closed with a sliding door. Here is the v-bed, with a chemical toilet and washbasin on port side, cabinets and a handy locker space on the opposite side.
