Selling a boat

Selling your boat with Sealion Yachts

How we work
We will be very pleased to meet with you on board your Yacht to explain our brokerage service and to view your boat. We discuss how we are going to put your boat on the market, determine what the condition of your boat is and what needs to be done in order to present your boat properly. We estimate the market value of your yacht and establish the asking price in good co-operation with yourself. We provide our brokerage agreement in which our fees and conditions are clearly defined. So far our services are free of charge and without obligation to make any commitment yet.

If you decide to sell your boat through Sealion Yachts , we will draw up a specification and make an extensive photo report. We will then present your Yacht on dedicated websites that attract buyers on a national as well as an international scale. During the brokerage period, we closely follow up on leads and show potential buyers over your boat. Once we find the right buyer, Sealion Yachts prepares the purchase – / sales agreement. We guide and support you throughout the entire selling process until full payment is received and the transfer of ownership has been accomplished.

Costs
For selling your yacht Sealion Yachts charges a commission fee which we deduct from the sales amount received. We provide you a complete service package for one commision amount. Sealion Yachts works on a No Cure No Pay basis which means you only pay commission when your yacht is sold. In the event your boat has not been sold upon expiry of the brokerage period, then you owe us no commission for the brokerage. We can also provide a berth space at our Sales Quay in Dinteloord, at a favorable rate and flexible conditions, which can save you a lot of money in the end. Send us the basic details of your boat for our dedicated and free advise on tariffs and conditions.

Security
Sealion Yachts ensures that all conditions are carefully incorporated into the sales agreement. In case the Buyer is from another country, we will make a bilingual sales agreement in order to prevent any misunderstandings. For receiving the sales amount and a deposit, Sealion Yachts has the option to use the Escrow account of a Notary. This applies especially if the Buyer wishes to enter the Yacht into the Dutch Ship’s Register (Kadaster). Sealion Yachts manages a safe financial settlement of the transaction, regardless if cadastral registration is involved or not.

Quality
As a professional yacht brokerage Sealion Yachts is certified by the EMCI Register, which means that the company is structured and operates according to the standards of this institute. The EMCI Register provides; solid base education, examination, rules of conduct and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training for Yacht brokers.

Maintenance
During the sales period, it is important that your boat is kept in excellent condition and responsibility for regular maintenance remains with the Owner. For the foto report as well as the viewings, it is important your ship is clean and tidy. Potential buyers will get a good first impression when they see the boat online, which will be confirmed during the visit. If due to a lack of time or other circumstances you are not able to keep your boat clean, Sealion Yachts will offer a suitable solution. We shall discuss with you in advance what solution we can provide .
